Clay Lucas
Former fire reconstruction chief Christine Nixon has been rushed to hospital.
The former police chief and the head of the Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery Authority, who announced on Saturday her plan to retire from that role, was taken by ambulance early this morning.
She will have surgery early tomorrow.
A spokeswoman for the reconstruction authority did not say what Ms Nixon's illness was, but said it was not life threatening.
