The semi-secret rendezvous
Eve paused outside the cafe and spied Fernando through the window.
What am I doing? she thought, squeezing her keys in her hand.
They’d first met at the school gate and flirted from the off.
Harmless stuff, really, and the attention he gave her – the eyes, the teeth, the casual hand on her elbow – clung to her like a scent long into her day.
It was invigorating and in stark contrast to Greg’s seeming indifference.
But this cafe rendezvous was an unexpected escalation.
She wondered if it was too late to return to the safety of her fantasies.
