Teenager Pheobe Bishop’s family face accused killer in court
The family of teenager Pheobe Bishop faced one of her alleged killers in court on Monday.
The 17-year-old from Gin Gin disappeared on May 15 after reportedly being driven by housemates Tanika Bromley and James Wood to Bundaberg airport.
Her body was found in Good Night Scrub National Park about three weeks later. Police believe it was moved multiple times after she died.
Bromley, 33, and Wood, 34, have been charged with murder and a string of other offences, including interfering with a corpse.
Their cases were both briefly mentioned at Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Monday, with Pheobe’s family in attendance.
Bromley appeared via video link from prison, but Wood was not present.
Their cases were adjourned until next Tuesday.
A third person – a 30-year-old man – has also been charged with being an accessory after the fact to the murder. He is accused of using a phone to interfere with the police investigation.
Following the disappearance, Bishop’s mother, Kylie Johnson, rallied the Bundaberg community to push for justice.
“Like most rural families, we are resilient, proud and strong, but this has brought us to our knees like no drought ever could,” she said on social media.
“Our community needs the healing process to start.”
