Queensland husband and wife cops honoured
A husband and wife team of police sergeants are among recipients of Australia Day honours in Queensland.
Sergeant Cheryl Bodley and husband Sergeant Geoffrey Bodley will receive Australian Police Medals for their years of dedicated service.
Sgt Cheryl Bodley has dedicated herself to community policing, general duties policing and training recruits, a statement from the Queensland Police Service said.
She is renowned for her ability to resolve complex social issues in family disputes and is currently working at the Police Academy.
Sergeant Geoffrey Bodley has served with distinction in a range of police appointments during his career, most notably with the Water Police and as an operational police dog handler for the past 23 years.
On a number of occasions, Sgt Bodley has placed his own life at significant risk in order to save the life of a member of the community.
Other recipients of the Australian Police Medal in Queensland are Superintendent Patrick Ryan, Superintendent Garth Pitman, Inspector Graham Coleman and Detective Sergeant Graham Walker.
