Man, 37, charged with attempted murder of partner in West End

A 37-year-old man who allegedly tried to choke his partner in an alleged rape attempt in Brisbane's inner-south has been charged with attempted murder.

Police were called to a house in Jane Street, West End about 1.30am Wednesday, after reports of a domestic disturbance.

A 43-year-old woman told officers her partner had punched her, tried to choke her and attempted to rape her.

He was later charged with attempted murder, and assault with intent to rape.

He is scheduled to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
