Delays after vehicle hits boom gate in Brisbane

Road diversions are in place after a vehicle hit a boom gate in Brisbane's south-east on Friday morning.

A Queensland Rail spokeswoman said a vehicle struck a boom gate at Coorparoo about 7.50am.

The strike had affected the overhead power lines and delayed trains along the Cleveland line by 30 minutes.

By mid-morning, trains had resumed in both directions.

The crash on Cavendish Road near Clarence Street damaged the boom gates and they were expected to be "out of commission" for the remainder of the day, a Queensland Rail spokesman said.

Train drivers have been informed to travel between Norman Park and Coorparoo Station at a reduced speed, a Queensland Rail spokesman said.

It is understood road diversions were in place as crews worked to repair the gates.
