Major delays after truck crashes into power pole

A man has been freed from a truck that crashed into and snapped a power pole at Ashgrove, causing major delays on the roads during morning peak hour.

The crash happened about 6.30am on the intersection of Hibiscus Avenue and Waterworks Road on Friday.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services freed a  man, believed to be in his 50s, from his truck before he was treated by paramedics.

Queensland Ambulance Service said he was in a serious condition after it was believed he had suffered a medical event.

Police said there could be delays for most of the morning on the major arterial road.

"Brisbane City Council and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services are there to help clear the crash and divert traffic," he said.

"However, it appears the power pole has snapped due to the impact and may take some time to clear."

The outbound lanes on Waterworks Road have been closed and diversions are in place on Jubilee Terrace.
