Gold Coast toddler rescued after near-drowning

A three-year-old boy has been pulled to safety after a near-drowning on the Gold Coast.

Paramedics were called to a house on Old Burleigh Road at Surfers Paradise just before 9am where the toddler had been found submerged in a backyard pool.

He was resuscitated and taken to Pindara Hospital in a stable condition.

According to community awareness group Kids Alive, drowning is the greatest cause of accidental death in children under five in Australia.
