Former TV presenter hit with dozens of child abuse material charges

A high-profile former TV presenter is behind bars, facing dozens of child abuse material charges in Brisbane.

Ex-A Current Affair and Nine News reporter Ben McCormack is accused of using a social media platform to transmit child abuse material from his Oxley home last year.

The 51-year-old’s property was searched by police on the weekend.

Multiple devices were reportedly seized for forensic examination.

McCormack is facing more than 60 charges relating to the alleged child abuse material, and for providing false and misleading information and failing to comply with reporting obligations.

The matter was briefly mentioned at Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

McCormack did not appear in person and did not apply for bail. The matter was adjourned to September.
