Ethics probe after police shoot man dead north of Brisbane

Queensland police have killed a man at a home north of Brisbane.

Police said officers were executing a search warrant at a home in Margaret Street, Burpengary East, when the 29-year-old man allegedly threatened them and was fatally shot about 5.25pm on Saturday.

The man was declared dead at the scene.

“A crime scene has been declared at the address, and police investigations are continuing,” a police statement read.

“This matter is under investigation by ethical standards command on behalf of the state coroner, with the investigation subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.”

Police provided no more details.

It is the fourth fatal police shooting in Queensland this calendar year.
