Police have charged a man with child stealing and trespassing after an amber alert was issued for a missing girl.

It is alleged the man took the eight-year-old, who was known to him, from a building on Beach Road in Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast on Thursday morning.

Police issued an amber alert, asking for urgent public help to find her, and sent a police helicopter to search.

Police found the eight-year-old girl about 6pm on Thursday.

She and the man were found “safe and well” at a property in Eerwah Vale, about 40 kilometres away, about 6pm on Thursday.
