Child in critical condition after dog mauling on Gold Coast

A child has been rushed to hospital after being mauled by a dog on the Gold Coast on Christmas Eve.

Paramedics were called to an address in Varsity Lakes about 11.45am on Friday.

The male child sustained multiple bite injuries and was treated at the scene by the specialist high acuity response unit. He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

A second patient, a female adult, also went to the hospital with minor injuries and chest pain.

Gold Coast City Council were dealing with the animal involved.

For privacy reasons, further details on the exact location of the incident and the age of the patient have not been released.
