Wooden escalators at Wynyard railway station
The old wooden escalators at Wynyard Railway Station are some of the few remaining wooden escalators in use around the world and its fate is to be decided soon with major plans to upgrade the station. Stiletto heels were often a victim of the wide gaps in the stairs on the escalators.
