A young mother has died after being struck by a motorcycle while tending to her children in the emergency bay of the M5 motorway in Sydney’s south-west.

Emergency services were called to the westbound lanes of the motorway at 9.25pm on Saturday after the woman was struck while stopped on the major road near Revesby.

Paramedics treated the woman at the scene before taking her to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.
