Teenager dies, three critically injured in Central West NSW smash

A teenager has died and three others were critically injured after a single-vehicle accident in the state's Central West on Sunday afternoon.

The teens were driving in a Holden sedan along Darby Falls Road towards Cowra, about 100 kilometres south-west of Bathurst.

Just after 3pm the car left the road, crashed into a tree and rolled.

A 17-year-old male passenger died in the crash, with three surviving teens flown to hospitals in Sydney.

The 18-year-old male driver was taken to Liverpool Hospital, the 17-year-old female passenger was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital and a 19-year-old male passenger to Westmead Hospital.

A NSW Police spokeswoman said the area remained a crime scene on Sunday night, with police still investigating he circumstances of the crash.

The road has been closed with traffic diverted.

Late on Sunday night the 17-year-old female passenger's condition was stable.
