Second drowning in two days as man pulled from surf on NSW South Coast

A man police believe to be in his 60s became the second drowning victim in the state in two days after being pulled from water on the South Coast last night.

About 5.40pm on Monday, emergency services were called to a rock pool on Blowhole Point Road in Kiama following reports the man had been pulled from the surf unresponsive.

Witnesses began CPR before NSW ambulance paramedics arrived, but the man could not be revived. He is yet to be formally identified.

Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District have began inquiries into the incident.

This was the second drowning in two days following the death on Sunday of a 75-year-old man on the NSW Mid North Coast.

Emergency services were called to Shelly Beach at Nambucca Heads after reports a man had been knocked unconscious by a wave, police said.
