Officer freed from police car crashed into western Sydney home

A female probationary constable has spent close to an hour-and-a-half trapped in a crumpled NSW Police vehicle which crashed through the fence of a home in Sydney’s west.

The SUV crashed on Bungarribee Road at Blacktown about 3pm on Tuesday.

The vehicle was responding to an urgent incident, under lights and sirens, when it collided with a Mitsubishi SUV, NSW Police said in a statement.

A female probationary constable was trapped in the vehicle for about 90 minutes after the crash, with rescuers freeing her about 4.30pm.

The 25-year-old was stretchered to a waiting ambulance before being taken to Westmead Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver, a male constable, received minor injuries.

A 30-year-old man driving the other car is currently assisting police.

The black Mitsubishi SUV could be seen stopped on the street outside, with a man being spoken to by officers on the footpath.

Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Adam Dewberry said specialist rescue trucks attended the scene shortly after 3pm.

The roof was removed from the vehicle about an hour later.

Bungarribee Road has been closed in both directions between Balmoral Street and Walters Road.
