‘Shocking’: Man charged with DV murder of woman, 62
Updated ,first published
A man has been charged with domestic violence murder after a woman in her 60s was found with stab wounds to her chest at a home in western Sydney.
Furkan Ada – also known as Bruce Archer – 28, has been charged with domestic homicide following the incident in Mount Pritchard on Sunday.
Emergency services were called to a home on Hemphill Avenue about 5pm, where paramedics assisted a critically injured woman, 62, who died at the scene. Police arrested Ada and took him to Fairfield Police Station.
They allege the two were known to each other.
NSW Police Minister Yasmin Catley said another alleged domestic violence death in the state was “unimaginable”.
“DV murders in this state are too prevalent, and they’re shocking, and my heart goes out to this family,” she said on Monday.
Ada appeared before Fairfield Local Court on Monday morning, where he made no application for bail, which was refused. The matter will return to court on September 29.
