Jeffrey Gilham timeline
- August 1993: Helen, Steven and Christopher Gilham killed in their Woronora home.
- 1995: Jeffrey Gilham pleads guilty to the manslaughter of his brother, claiming provocation. Given good-behaviour bond.
- 1997: 60 Minutes airs allegations all three people were killed by one person.
- 2000: Inquest into Helen and Steven Gilham's death terminated with recommendation for the Director of Public Prosecutions to prosecute Gilham. But DPP declines to act.
- 2000: Tony Gilham appeals to the Attorney-General to overrule DPP. But AG declines to act.
- 2001: Tony Gilham launches private prosecution against Jeffrey Gilham. But DPP takes over the case, and terminates the action. Tony Gilham offers reward.
- 2002: Tony Gilham complains to ICAC about DPP's actions.
- February 2006: Mr Gilham charged with parents' murder.
- October 2006: Mr Gilham applies for a stay of proceedings.
- 2007: Court refuses a stay and Mr Gilham loses appeal.
- February 2008: High Court refuses leave to appeal to it because of pending trial.
- February 18, 2008: Mr Gilham's trial starts.
- April 2008: the jury in Mr Gilham's murder trial fails to reach a verdict.
- October 2008: a retrial is held
- November 2008: Mr Gilham is convicted on 2 counts of murder.
- March 2009: Justice Howie finds that the killings are in the worst category and Mr Gilham is sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison with no non-parole period.
- February, 2010: Appeal is lodged with the NSW Criminal Court of Appeal.
- December 2011: Mr Gilham's conviction is quashed after a new expert witness casts serious doubt on a fundamental element of the Prosecution case.
- TODAY: judges to decide whether Mr Gilham is acquitted or must face a re-trial.
