Driver, 18, dead and four passengers injured in Sydney car crash

A Thursday night drive has ended in tragedy in western Sydney with an 18-year-old driver dead and her four passengers injured when their car crashed into a tree.

The group were driving down The Horsley Drive at Wetherill Park about 11.15pm when the car veered off the road, mounting the median strip and smashing head-on into a tree.

Paramedics and police rushed to the scene, but the driver could not be saved.

One of the passengers was in a critical condition when paramedics arrived.

One person in their teens was found with multiple injuries and taken to Liverpool Hospital.

Another passenger, a female patient in her teens, also had multiple injuries and was taken to Westmead Hospital.

Another passenger, a male in his 20s, was taken to Westmead Hospital with multiple injuries.
