A quick rehash of the day's COVID-19 news:
- Victoria's new cases dropped to under 100, with 94 reported on Saturday along with 18 deaths with the Premier pleading for patience with two weeks left of stage 3 and 4 lockdowns left.
- NSW recorded 14 new cases on Saturday. NSW Health authorities are racing to contain a COVID-19 cluster that has spread from a gym in Sydney's CBD to suburbs in the city's north, west and as far as the Central Coast.
- The Andrews government has struck a deal with state MPs to continue Victoria’s state of emergency beyond September 14.
- In QLD, COVID-19 restrictions preventing more than 10 people visiting a home will be extended to the Toowoomba and Darling Downs health region from Monday, Health Minister Steven Miles said on Saturday.
- And in WA, a man has been placed under police guard in a Perth hotel after he allegedly breached quarantine rules to go to a Northbridge bar just hours after landing in Western Australia from Queensland.
