A barrage of gunshots fired into a suburban home before a dark SUV speeds away has been captured on camera as police probe links to other shootings and the discovery of two torched cars.

Sydney’s spate of gun violence continued with three shootings in four hours on Wednesday night, as shots were fired into homes and a business in the city’s south-west.

The first attack took place about 11.15pm on Margaret Street, Fairfield, with multiple shots fired into a home before a dark SUV fled the scene.

A CCTV camera on the street captured the sound of multiple shots being fired in quick succession and the roaring engine of a vehicle speeding away.

“We heard this barrage of gunshots ... would have been about six or eight gunshots in a row, and there was a slight pause, and then there was another barrage,” one Fairfield resident, who declined to be named, told Nine’s Today program.

“We thought, you know, ‘what’s going on here, this is just not our neighbourhood’.”

A man and a woman aged in their 20s were inside the home but escaped injury.

The couple were not previously known to police, Detective Superintendent Craig Middleton said.

The shooting was the first in a “busy night”, and police are now investigating whether some or all of the attacks are linked.

While no one was injured, the three shootings within hours of one another have left police horrified.

“These people choose to be totally reckless in what they do in their acts of violence,” Middleton said.

“People can get seriously injured and killed in these sorts of things, and it just won’t be tolerated.”

Another resident said he initially thought the gunshots were the sound of someone knocking on a door too loudly.

“But it wasn’t,” he told Nine News.

“Honestly, I’m super afraid right now,” the resident said, not wishing to be identified.

The shooting in Fairfield was followed by another on Aberdeen Street, Bossley Park, about 11.55pm, with a single shot fired into a caravan parked on the street before a white Audi sedan fled.

A couple in their 80s live at the address with their grandson, Middleton said.

“They’re very upset and traumatised,” he said.

“As far as we know, they’re innocent people inside that premises.”

A third shooting occurred in an industrial area in nearby Mcilwraith Street, Wetherill Park, about 2.50am on Thursday, with a black SUV or ute seen in the area.

The business was the site of an alleged affray about a week earlier, Middleton said.

“Obviously, it will be part of our inquiries whether that has triggered something that was linked to last night,” he said.

Two cars have been found burnt out in Lalor Park and Kings Langley, and investigations are under way to determine if they are linked to the shootings.
