Weekend blues

Although she didn’t particularly like her job, or her colleagues, Indira was usually one of the last to leave work.

Frequently, she’d wind up sharing takeaway, and wine in tea mugs, with whomever else was burning the midnight oil.

On Fridays, she’d always attend work drinks and stay the distance.

Eventually, she’d slouch back to her crypt-quiet apartment where she’d shower and make toast, watch TV and avoid contemplating the coming weekend.

History told her it would be yet another spent without any human contact beyond small talk at a supermarket checkout.

Mondays couldn’t come fast enough.
