This Hawthorn East apartment is an entertainer’s paradise
Take inspiration from some of Australia’s best living spaces. Ahead, this off-the-plan Melbourne apartment has a style all its own, with moody lighting, plenty of room for dancing and a roof-top pool.
The home
A contemporary high-rise apartment in Melbourne’s Hawthorn East with two bedrooms and bathrooms, a study, and a large terrace.
Who lives here
Larissa Davis, principal designer and owner of Lewisham Interiors, and her partner.
What we did
“We purchased off-the-plan, yet were able to customise aspects such as removing the third bedroom and creating a much larger living, dining and entertaining space. We also changed the cabinetry, colour scheme and lighting, to suit the warm, dark, moody feel we wanted,” says Larissa.
Our favourite room
“The dining space, where I custom-designed a U-shaped bench seat and tall upholstered ceiling-height panels. An oval pendant light illuminates the dining table, so every dinner is a special occasion.”
The ’hood
“We love the nearby Rivoli cinema, plus numerous bars and restaurants – and the other residents.”
Future plans
“The outdoor terrace: we have in mind three separate outdoor rooms that can adapt into one open-plan area.”
Best advice
“If interior downlights can be minimised or removed, go for it.”
