With the Senate continuing to talk FoFA and the House continuing to talk automotive transformations, it is time we headed out into the Canberran eve. *
Alex Ellinghausen, Andrew Meares and I will be back tomorrow for the last sitting day for a fortnight.
This will including the swearing-in of Andrew Colvin as AFP Commissioner in the morning.

In the Senate, Labor is continuing its attempt to push back on the government pushing back on the Future of Financial Advice laws.
There is a regulation to "streamline" the advice that Labor - via Sam Dastyari - is trying to disallow.
(We understand this is a repeat of a disallowance motion that was voted on and defeated by the Senate in July.)

It can often be really hard to hear who is saying what in question time.
There so much noise and carry on (what Bronwyn Bishop would call a cacophony).
Online political editor Chris Hammer has honed in on of the House's most vocal MPs.
And translated his contributions today.
As an added inducement, this is done in Comic Sans.
Geoffrey Rush as Lionel Logue was just behind with 26 per cent (he would have us all talking so proper!)
Hugh Jackman as Wolverine was next with a hairy 24 per cent.
Then came Russell Crowe as Gladiator on 14 per cent and Eric Bana as the Hulk on a puny 9 per cent (better luck next time, Hulk!)

Operation Sovereign Borders update ahoy!
Immigration Minister Scott Morrison has just issued a statement.
"Eight of nine months in 2014 have passed without a successful people smuggling venture to Australia as the government’s policies under Operation Sovereign Borders continue to sustainably deter illegal boat arrivals.
"Just one venture arrived successfully this year with all persons on board transferred to Nauru whereas under the former Labor Government in the year preceding Operation Sovereign Borders 401 illegal boats arrived with 26,543 people on board."

"Today, the terrorists have won."
Deputy technology editor Ben Grubb has filed on the national security laws that passed Parliament earlier today.
He argues that Labor did not "do its jobs properly" by letting them through.
Which is a lot of cheese when you think you about it.

Don't have a cow, man.
Out on the front lawns of Parliament, some cows have greeted Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce and his Labor shadow Joel Fitzgibbon.
