With the Senate continuing to talk FoFA and the House continuing to talk automotive transformations, it is time we headed out into the Canberran eve. *

But before that, what did we learn?

In the Senate, Labor is continuing its attempt to push back on the government pushing back on the Future of Financial Advice laws.

There is a regulation to "streamline" the advice that Labor - via Sam Dastyari - is trying to disallow.

(We understand this is a repeat of a disallowance motion that was voted on and defeated by the Senate in July.)

As of September 30, there were 1060 asylum seekers on Manus Island and 1167 on Nauru.

Also as of September 30, there have been 44 positive and 40 negative refugee status assessments on Manus Island.

There have been 250 positive and 79 negative assessments on Nauru.

Operation Sovereign Borders update ahoy!

Immigration Minister Scott Morrison has just issued a statement.

"Eight of nine months in 2014 have passed without a successful people smuggling venture to Australia as the government’s policies under Operation Sovereign Borders continue to sustainably deter illegal boat arrivals.
