Game of Thrones season six, episode one leaks online

US President Barack Obama was meant to be the only person who got a preview screening of the new Game of Thrones season.

But before its world premiere at 11am AEST, the first episode was reportedly leaked online to hundreds of viewers.

Some have pointed the finger at a Canadian streaming service being responsible for the leak, as the episode reportedly had French subtitles.

The episode was taken down, but not before fans filled internet forums with spoilers and alleged screen grabs.

In Australia, Game of Thrones is premiering exclusively on Foxtel, as well as Foxtel's online streaming service, Foxtel Play.
