So, an enormous 275-run win for the Aussies, their biggest ever in terms of runs. Big scores for David Warner, Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell amid a record World Cup total of 6-417. Afghanistan fought hard, batting out 37.3 overs in reply with No.3 Nawroz Mangal top-scoring with 33. Mitchell Johnson finished with 4-22 and Mitchell Starc continued his good form with 2-18.

That's it from me for tonight. Pick up the Sydney Morning Herald or The Age tomorrow morning, or log onto Fairfax Media websites for all the follow up, reaction and news.

Thanks for your company. Catch you next time!

WICKET! It's all over at the WACA. Australia finishes the Afghanistan innings with the fall of Hamid Hassan, caught Warner, bowled Johnson.

Dropped catch by Steve Smith at third slip! Shapoor Zadran edged the ball and Smith dived low to his right and unsuccessfully attempted to snare it with one hand.

WICKET! A little inside edge from Afsar Zazai from that delivery by Josh Hazlewood and Brad Haddin takes an easy catch behind the stumps. One wicket to go.

WICKET! Yet another perfect and fast yorker from Starc takes care of Dawlat Zadran.

WICKET! And that's the end of Najibullah, clean bowled by Starc. Another ripping yorker from the big fast bowler. He's got them all worked out at the moment.

Najibullah has just hit the biggest six of the day, into the second tier, straight off Maxwell's bowling. There's no use hanging around!
