Large great white shark circling recreational fishing boat off Floreat Beach

Authorities are keeping a close eye on a 4.5-metre shark reportedly circling a recreational fishing boat off Floreat beach.

Water Police and Surf Life Saving WA received a call about 11.30am on Wednesday that the shark, believed to be a great white, was circling the boat about four kilometres off the beach.

He said the beach would be closed if the shark came within one kilometre of the shoreline.
