Sydney weather: driving rain, damaging winds to batter NSW for second day
Damaging and destructive winds, heavy rainfall and damaging surf are ripping through the Metropolitan, Mid North Coast, Hunter and Illawarra on Tuesday evening.

'Manly Dam has not spilled over': police
A media statement just released from NSW Police:
Police have issued an update to media outlets and the public, to ensure people remain calm, following reports of flooding around Manly Dam.
Northern Beaches Local Area Commander, Detective Superintendent David Darcy, is asking residents around Manly Dam to remain calm.
"While there is flooding in the area due to a combination of high tide, rain, heavy surf blocking the exit of water, and a number of small creeks feeding water to the area, Manly Dam has not spilled over or released any water at this time.
"We want to ensure that people in the area are safe and remain calm.
Flood warnings on NSW rivers
Flood Warnings are current for a number of rivers.
At this stage there is a greater than 70% chance of additional flooding in the following river valleys developing during Tuesday:
1. Manning Valley - Gloucester only - minor flooding. Flooding not expected along the Manning River.
2. Hunter Valley - including Scone - minor to moderate flooding.
3. Lake Macquarie - minor flooding.

Severe Storms: what we know so far
A second day of severe storms, heavy rain and destructive winds that ripped through Sydney, Newcastle and the Hunter Region causing unbearable tragedy, frustration and uncertainty.
- The Newcastle and Hunter regions were hit worst by the storm and three people were killed in flash flooding in the Hunter Valley township of Dungog. Police said a woman and two men were found dead on Tuesday morning following the severe weather event, which continues to batter the Hunter, Sydney and the Illawarra.
- Sydney's transport services were in chaos as storms led to widespread closure and delays across the city's ports, roads and public transport. By the evening peak hour flooding and overturned trees and power lines and had closed roads across the city.
- 4000 people including 800 children are still stranded on the cruise ship Carnival Spirit outside Sydney Heads in swells of up to nine metres high.
- 25,000 Sydney homes and businesses will spend a cold and dark night without electricity, as Ausgrid works to restore power to sections of the network. Roughly 100,000 Ausgrid customers in Newcastle and the Hunter region were without power on Tuesday evening, and 75,000 customers Central Coast also experienced black outs.
